So ... what did everyone choose for their album of 2009?

Nothing I heard came anywhere close to my early contender of Van the man's Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl, but I wasn't really expecting anything to approach that astonishing disc for intensity, excitement & spiritual nourishment!

Having just heard some thought-provoking and some extremely beautiful extracts from Sade's first album in ten years - Soldier of Love - I think it may well be a contender for my album of 2010, but I am not making any predictions this time. After all, we may get a new Beth masterpiece!

:)

PJ and John Parish - A woman walked by was good, Mumford and Sons has 3-4 good tracks, Cold War Kids was interesting, The XX was excellent, but the album for me was Florence and the Machine. (boring choice, I know)

Ever notice these days how Courtney Love looks worse than Kurt Cobain?

2010's album is going to be Storoway's year, mark my words.

They released a song called Zorbing, as well as another itunes single last year, and didn't have a record deal. They had a pretty big tent at Glastonbury, and they have literally just got signed to an independent label.

Check them out:
(particularly Zorbing)

I also predict big things for Maeve O'Boyle, who is your Amy MacDonald (who also has an album in April) or KT Tunstall alternative, or Lucas Feeney, who I read about in the Guardian, and got a free single from.

2010 is exciting for British music!

The beauty is, if any of these hits it big, I will look like a genius :D

Okay, also looked up that Stornoway single, and is it just me, or do they kind of sound like an indie-rock version of James? Singer sounds a LOT like Tim Booth, methinks.

Yeah, actually, they do.

But they are more like Mumford and Sons.
