quoting a friend here. he "really needs an iTunes guru (offers please!) so he can move iTunes music from old lappy to new lappy without losing playcount - I've managed moving everything except playcount and being a numbers man I really would like to keep it"

anyone have a clue - is it simple? answers on a apostcard please. Ade - this must be up your street?

Okily doke ... very simple, as I did it a few months ago.

There is an XML file in your itunes directory called itunes music library.xml ... Open iTunes on your new computer, do all the agreements etc. Then close iTunes straight away.

Move all your music accross keeping the directory structure the same*, as far as you can.

Search for and navigate to the place where the "new" itunesmusiclibrary.xml file is, and then replace the xml file with the old one. Needs to be done with iTunes closed.

*I believe, but don't quote me, that the location of the directory has to be the same. ALthough I moved it from a mac to Windoze, so unless I edited the XML file, I may be wrong.
