We awoke to a foot of snow on the ground this morning. I was glad when they told me my doctor appointment was cancelled. Smart Doctor. He is 35 miles away from here.
Well, I fired up the snowblower (glad I got it out the other day) and cleaned off the walk infront of the garage and the house. Later, my plowman showed up and did the rest with his truck and plow.
Right now it is snowing sideways with wind gusts of 30-40 MPH. I think I'll stay in the rest of the day and have a few drinks. Maybe a little Beth Orton on the stereo and some Brian Eno and Robert Fripp too.
Have a good night, and stay warm folks.

This is what passes for massive snowdrifts at my house:

That was Monday after an overnight snowfall, and it took me HOURS to shovel it away (with an espresso spoon)!

Actually it is not uncommon to have a dusting of snow on the hilltops (above 1500 feet or so) every or every-other year, but this is the first time we've had snow down to about 500 feet in over 30 years, including snow on the ground well into the afternoon, and some cars up the street were covered in a good few inches of snow.

1) upload the pic to a service such as imageshack;

2) copy the "direct link" address: see for example menu on the right here: http://img193.imageshack.us/i/copysmall.jpg/

3) When posting here click on the "IMG" button and paste the image link address.

Brighton beach earlier this year, most fun I've had in snow in ages. Though sea water got in my shoe and the sea was so cold snow didn't melt in it...

We went to Austria in August, in the mountains, and one was rather high (the GroBglockner fact fans) that there was still snow. Have some rather surreal pics of us posing on the snow in shorts T's & Sunnies....

Here in Wisconsin, Madison had 17 inches of snow. They cancelled classes, but our resiliant youth passed the time by rolling up a huge snowball and having a snowball fight with over 3,000 participants
Up here in the Northwoods the temperature is 1 degree above Fahrenheit. That's cold, dude. Paula, bring me up another brandy and a bell on bobtail. Whatever the hell that means.

Up North, it snows like that about once a week. By the time Ice out rolls around in April, there is a good five or more feet on the ground.
Our puppy doesn't know what to make of it. He wants out, and then he wants right back in again.
