If anyone wants to do a fantasy league this year, I've set us up a league on that website, simple enough, 100 million to pick alot of players, with bragging rights for the winner.

Put your team in, submit it, go to leagues, join a private league, and then add this as the join-code:

You guys don't have anything better than Budweiser over there?

Sort of takes the adventure out of it! I could stay home and join an American football fantasy league and drink that...

I just bought 48 bottles of a mixture of brahma, peroni, sol, budweiser and san miguel for less than 40p a bottle today. I have the brahma's in the freezer now. Beautiful.

Our usual post Friday after work piss-up drink takes place in the only pub locally that serves Budweiser. It's the best thing they serve, so that's what I go with. It just goes to show how many Polish people live in Merthyr these days, as they have a special area in Tesco that has only Polish beers and lagers. I've never taken a trip down the wine aisle with any intent, but I am told there is the same thing with the Portuguese wines.

100 million is the beauty of it, as you can't go picking a team of superstars, and even to pick a Gerrard or Lampard, you have to seriously cut back in other areas.

Last fall I bought a case of "Budweiser American Ale" which was new and I was actually very impressed with, very flavorful. I haven't seen it much lately, and it is premium priced, so I'm hoping it will return to the discount club inventories again later this year.

Last year I also tried the new low-calorie "Miller 64" because it was very cheap, and while I can say in it's favor it had no disagreeable after-taste, unfortunately it had no "during-taste" either.

My default brew the past several years is Redhook ESB which is widely available and generally reasonably priced, and is a decent approximation of an English bitters.

There are actually two Budweiser type products - the American one by Anschuer-Busch (sp?), and the much more delicious one from the Czech Republic, called Budvar. It's a completely different drink, but it's also pretty expensive.

I don't drink ales or beers, in the traditional sense, and people can get properly arsey about it over here, because they carbonate lager, and it is almost sacrilegious.

The last low-cal lager I tried was (name escapes me), think it might be Hoffmeister. That was really horrible to drink. Coors is terrible, also.

When I used to drink in Manchester, we used to go a very swish place in Manchester, as it was the only place that served a beer called Jever.

One of the lads was from Germany, and insisted on drinking it. (It was like drinking pure malt!) So in that place I went through the majority of the World Lagers (the menu told you exactly where every lager came from - yes, there was a menu for the lagers, that's how expensive it was!)

Nastro Azzurro (from Italy) is exceptional.

We also had a common room in the halls of residence (dorms), where I became partial to Asahi, which is a rice brewed beer from Japan, which you can now get from Walmart, weirdly enough. An irish boy, a Russian girl and myself drank so much of that stuff, they put us in charge of purchasing the stocks ... I did consider putting that on my CV :D

These days I usually only drink lager with food, and I can match the lager to the food ... so I drink Tsingtao with Chinese or Thai food, Asahi or Kobra with Indian food, or Peroni with Italian.

If I am drinking with friends, it's usually Stella Artois or Staropramen to start, and if I am going too quickly it's onto Carling, as it doesn't get you too drunk. If I am drinking to music at a gig, it's Carlsberg, so I can remember what happened in the gig!, and if I am on my tod, I experiment

I take lager very seriously!

I studied at 3 different unis :D (albeit one of those was for a week). All three of my theses were as coherent as that description, as well.

... I have 2 Masters degrees in Computer Science (and one attempted Ph.D) Well, now I am up to 5 unis, including the courses at work I have done, hehe.

Got the beers from our local cash and carry. They are doing 24 bottles of Bud/Brahma at tesco for 12 quid, which probably brouhgt about the sale at the cash and carry!

I spent a weekend in Prague many moons ago and discovered I quite liked Pilsner Urquell (if that is how it is spelt) especially in the great big flagons with oompah bands and the liek going on around me. Tried some back home, think it was quite nice and would recommend it, but not too sure as this was a few years ago. If not overly dear, certainly worth splashing out on a bottle

We are promised naked girls on the bus driving us from the airport to the hotel on the next stag night in Prague. Always a good reason to go to Prague that!

In fact, wherever we have looked at in Prague, there are naked girls on offer.

edit: and absenta (Absinthe, legally banned over here for fear of making you go blind) for £16 a bottle.

I have a bottle indoors - is 7 years old - does it go off or get more evil? You could also get cannabis vodka out there as well, not sure if it was a gimmick or what...

Now that sounds like my kind of drink!

Luckily - because alcohol is a pernicious poison that ruins countless lives - most beers and wines give me a bad headache even in small doses, and so it is not hard for me to say no.

However I do like a shot of something nice and clean, such as vodka or tequila, when I need relaxing. And in the winter I drink considerable quantities of cognac and port (in a 2:1 mix) which is very warming in cold weather, and encourages me to dance all night (not that I need a lot of encouraging!).

But that cannabis stuff really suits me ... when it happens to come my way! Jai Rastafari!

:peace:
