Having just read in the paper that the remarkable English maverick musician Robert Wyatt (ex-Soft Machine) is 62 today, I thought it might be nice to have a thread in which we can celebrate significant (non-forum) birthdays (as an antidote to the Obituaries thread).

Happy Birthday, soulful Robert!

Also today were Russian tennis player Murat Safin, English mathematician (and more famously, writer of Alice through the looking glass / Alice in Wonderland), Lewis Carroll, and the extremely gorgeous Rosamund Pike.

On the subject of significant birthdays, today would have been the 111th birthday of my grandfather, Amos Ray Cope.
He was about the coolest, most sensible man I have ever known, and I am proud to have known him.
He passed away in 1986 after a five year battle with cancer...and was a true friend of mine till the end. It was he who made it possible for my wife and I to purchase our first house. It was he who taught me how to save and manage money.
I owe a lot to my grandpa, and wherever he is today I'd like to wish him a happy birthday.

:peace: Peace

'Tis one of my best friends' birthday today (Tom), and also that of the remarkable nineteenth century child prodigy composer - Felix Mendelssohn - who didn't lose his gift in adulthood.

We should have a general "birthdays" thread to go with our general "obituaries" thread, so herewith......

Happy birthday to Laura Prepon and Rachel Weisz, who prove my contention that we Pisces are all HAWWTTT* !! ^_^

I believe I started a thread along these lines in January!

If someone less useless than myself at the moment should find it, maybe they could combine the two into one? ^_^

Well, it was both my sisters' birthdays yesterday.

TJ missed a trick and didn't post two incredibly hot photos for those two actresses above

Laura Prepon had an incredible photo shoot in Maxim magazine about five years ago. Let's see who finds it first.
